505 _aThe Silver Edition of True Stories is a five-level reading series. The series is appropriate for beginning to high-intermediate learners of English as a Second or Foreign Language. The Silver Edition consists of revised editions of six of the highly successful and popular True Stories in the News books that have provided entertaining stories and effective reading skill instruction for many years. In fact, the first book in that series was published over twenty-five years ago (hence the tilte "Silver Edition"). The True Stories series has been going strong ever since. [...]
505 _arue Stories, Level 1B, is the second book in the Silver Edition of the True Stories series. It is intended for beginning learners of English. It consists of 20 four-page units, each with the following distinguishing features:
_tThe pre-reading task has students listen to each story while looking at illustrations that recreate the story's narrative.
_tEach story has an average length of just over 275 words.
_tThere is an overlap in level with True Stories 1A to ensure a smooth transition from that book to this.
_tThe stories are told in the simple present, present progressive, and future tenses, with occasional use of the past tense.
_tWriting exercises are sentence completions and composition of single sentences." (Introduction, pp. iv-v)
