Résumé : "This book analyses current issues in language teaching practice; defines the parameters within which practitioners have to make choices; and identifies controversial questions and areas which require empirical research.Résumé : Issues and Options discusses implications for the second language curriculum of the applied linguistics theory that is covered in Fundamental Concepts of Language Teaching. The book is divided into four parts and twelve chapters with an introduction and a conclusion. The subjects treated in each part are as follows: Policy and Practice provides discussion of language teaching analysis and the processes of curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and research. Defining Objectives provides discussion of language teaching, and focuses on the four objectives of language proficiency, knowledge, affect, and transfer. Content Options deals with four main content areas: target language, target culture, communicative activities, and general language education. Teaching Strategies presents a discussion of instructional options based on the following dimensions: intralingual-crosslingual, analytic-experiential, and explicit-implicit." (Book Cover)
