"Communication Spotlight: Speaking Strategies and Listening Skills, Pre-Intermediate is the third book in the four-level Communication Spotlight series. These are two-skill, speaking and listening texts aimed at adult and young adult, elementary through intermediate level learners of American English. (CEFR A1 through B2)
Speaking: Communication Spotlight introduces students to the strategies of speaking: the strategies we use to confirm or clarify what we're saying and what we're hearing, the strategies we use to show interest in and to maintain and develop conversations, the strategies we use that help with fluency and the strategies we may use to compensate for a lack of language - in sum, the strategies that work to give students control in communicative situations, strategies which help students use their existing English skill set with greater finesse.
Listening: Communication Spotlight helps students to develop a critically important ear for English. Each unit features a Spotlight on Listening section which draws student attention to natural English as it is actually spoken. Students are given many practice opportunities to listen to and comprehend extended texts of natural English.
Listening and Speaking Accuracy: A new feature, Spotlight on Memory, has students concentrate on the structure at the heart of each unit, and in doing so, helps students extend their short-term memory capacities.
Vocabulary: Communication Spotlight includes a vocabulary notes section for students to record and review new words, fostering learner autonomy.
30-40 hours of classroom material. 15 units on topics of everyday interest." (Book Cover)
